The Acer Ferrari 1200 has a 12.1-inch LED-backlit display, AMD Turion X2 Ultra dual-core mobile processor and up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, but we all know that far more important is the carbon-fiber cover, anodized-metal touchpad (said to resemble the car’s pedals) and soft-touch coating. You also get an exclusive Bluetooth mouse and there’s an optional VoIP handset to go with the Ferrari 1200. Other specs include a slot-loading DVD drive, “large capacity” SATA hard-drive, Dolby Home Theater audio and WiFi. There’s also a webcam and biometric security courtesy of the fingerprint scanner, together with Acer’s DASP hard-drive protection system.
No word on how much the keys to the Acer Ferrari 1200 will set you back, but figure more than the equivalently spec’d 12.1-inch ultraportable just by virtue of the brand name. It’ll apparently be available in the first half of 2009.
